    Curriculum:  Teaching and learning is driven by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.  Through district collaboration and planning, content and grade level Professional Learning Communities, grade level scope and sequence development for content areas is driven by the TEKS Resource System.  Instructional Focus Documents provide direction as TEKS clusters and highly leveraged SEs are identified and analyzed for focused objectives. 


    Student Recognition: 

    Celebrate Success Awards held at end of 2nd, 4th, and 6th Six Weeks for A, A/B Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Bringing Up Grades Club. 

    Highland Heroes, Kindergarten through 5th grade, recognized each 6 weeks.

    Gold Ticket to Learning Recognition for Grit, Kindness, Growth, and/or Respect.

    PAW Pride from each classroom available each week.

    Bullpup Jobs for 5th graders each 6 weeks

    Student Banking, Store, and TV station

    Support Programs:  We take pride in offering support programs tailored to meet individual student needs, including 504, dyslexia, Counseling Program and Guidance Classes, Health Services, WIN Time Intervention (What I Need), Special Education with emphasis on inclusion, academic adjustment, resource, Gifted/Talented campus and district services, Positive Behavior Intervention Support, Honor Choir,

    Parent Teacher Organization:  Our parent organization is a vital part of the Highland community and culture.  We are fortunate to have wonderful parent involvement and volunteers.
