• The Plainview ISD Board of Trustees values the notion that life circumstances should not limit our student’s future success and that every employee, inclusive of the board of trustees, has a responsibility to ensure a quality education for our students.

The Board of Trustees consists of seven board members elected to serve, without compensation, overlapping terms of four years each. Trustees are elected for rotating four-year terms; elections are held annually in May. Although candidates run for specific places, they do not represent specific geographical areas. Rather, each represents Plainview ISD at-large. Following the annual election, the Board elects a president, vice-president and secretary to serve one-year terms.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting policies, establishing an annual budget and selecting the Superintendent.

The Plainview ISD Board of Trustees is made up of seven single-member districts each elected by their district constituency. The Board serves as the policy-making body of the school district. The community is invited to attend the regularly scheduled Board meetings held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM unless otherwise specified. Regular meetings are held at the Plainview ISD Education Complex Boardroom, 2411 Yonkers.

During the first 30 minutes of each regularly scheduled meeting, the first six citizens to sign in upon arrival may address items, not on the agenda. The Open Meetings Laws prohibit Board action on items not on the written agenda. If the meeting is virtual, citizens may call 806.296.4075 at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled board meeting.
