Originally from Western New York (not far from Niagara Falls), I moved to Andrews Texas when I was 12, it was definitely a little culture shock but I quickly fell in love with Texas! It was my senior year while partnering with an elementary classroom I realized I could make a difference in the lives of students. I still feel the same way today. It all starts with building the relationship with the students and empowering them to know they can learn anything! After graduating from West Texas A&M University I took over the 1st-grade class at Bushland ISD before getting hired in Plainview at La Mesa Elementary. While at La Mesa I taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and Inclusion SPED. It was in my 5th year at La Mesa I was trained to be a Dyslexia Specialist through the Scottish Rite Hospital. In 2017, I joined the Estacado family and I absolutely love it. I am the Dyslexia Specialist for both Middle School campuses where I have the opportunity to teach students the why behind the reading rules.
