Community Information

Dear Plainview School Community:

In light of a newly published Texas Education Agency directive, all Texas public schools have been stripped of their temporary ability to require masks at any point for public health. We will continue to highly encourage them on campuses with climbing infection rates, and we have seen the voluntary use of masks has decreased the percentages across the district on various campuses. We are truly thankful for students, staff, faculty, and administrators who voluntarily supported the use of masks to drop infection rates.

Unless new guidance is given from the Texas Education Agency, should any campus or district facility reach a 6% infection rate for students, faculty, staff, and administrators, the only option available is to close the campus for a week. If this does not decrease the infection rate, we will seek guidance and support from the Hale County Health Authority and act in concert with their medical expertise.

We appreciate everyone doing their part. We will continue with our deep cleaning, and we ask all school community members to stay home if they do not feel well. Should we close the campus to all students, faculty, staff, and administration, those days will have to be made up. Should we only close the campus to students, we will seek approval for low attendance waivers for those days.

As more information is issued from the Texas Education Agency, we will update our actions and information.
